      Its a question I started debating with myself so I decided to the team.  As we go into 2016, I think most of you know by now that I feel we should really enhance our customer focus: increased communication during and post installation, follow up phone calls weeks or even months after the installation (and not asking for an appointment), more quality control such as booties and job visits, and the list goes on.  That being said the customer comes first, right? We are striving to make sure the customer feels as though they are number one at that moment.  When we make the simplest decisions around the office, I want us to think: "Does this positively affect the customer experience?" Now the customer REALLY comes first! Or do they? Without the employee, we don't have a customer.  Better yet, without a happy employee, we don't have a happy experience on the other end.  Think about it.  When your spouse or friend call you after you just went through a rough moment or day, you answer the phone and say "Hello." You say the same word you have always said when answering the phone.  But this time your spouse or friends response is, "Whats wrong?" They feel it.  They sense it.  You can argue that its less dramatic when you are interacting with a customer, but they still feel it.  By them feeling your pain the slightest, it affects their experience, negatively.  So with that analogy, one could argue that in order to positively enhance the customer experience, we must have happy employees.  Entrepreneur Richard Branson once revealed that he does not put the customer first.  He will tell you he built his company Virgin on customer service.  However, he goes to say this about employees: "It should go without saying, if the person who works at your company is 100 percent proud of the brand and you give them the tools to do a good job and they are treated well, the're going to be happy.  If the person who works for your company is not appreciated, they are not going to do things with a smile."  The simple theory is: Happy employees equal happy customers.   So digest and try to read between the lines.  If we have happy employees, we are providing a better service to our customer...at the same time.  I am going to cheat and tell you my answer is that employees and customers go hand in hand.  If you were to make me choose, lets go with employee.  I really want everyone to be genuinely happy in their environment.  Because lets face it, if you are happy, our customers are happy.  When are customers are happy, its earns more business.  When we earn more business, employees are happy.  Go get em.    So now I want you to think about any ideas you have that can make your work experience better.  If there is anything I can do or your teammates can do, let us know.
